Forget the Resolutions: Set These Targets for 2021

A New Year is as good a time as any to recalibrate, reprioritize, clean out your closet (or inbox!) to leave space for what you really want to create. 2020 was a big year, characterized by chaos, but also reflection. Here are some guidelines to kickstart your targets for 2021.

Define Your Version of Success

We are accustomed to seeing success in terms of social media followers or dollars but is that the only measurement of success? Maybe instead of increasing your social media follower count, you focus on high-quality and engaged followers who participate frequently in your business offerings. Beyond monetary growth, maybe you expand your business services or products that can lead to long-term sustainable growth. Success comes in many forms, stay open-minded to building your business in accordance with your definition of success.

Set Measurable Targets, Be Specific

Have you ever set targets like going to the gym more, or eating healthier? Have you ever fallen off that bandwagon so fast the calendar hasn’t even hit February 1st yet? The key to setting targets and keeping them is ensuring that your targets are measurable and that you are held accountable. Whether you are focusing on personal or business targets, be specific, write them down, and set a date! How many sign-ups do you want for your new program? How many engaged followers? How many new clients vs. long-term clients? Once you get clear, make sure to set a date to evaluate yourself and your business!

Go Slow

The masculine-driven business model of working until you drop is out! Leave room in your business for reflection, space, and rest. Burnout does not benefit you or your clients and it is not sustainable. When we go slow we can find balance in our business. Leaving room for rest and reflection allows you to come back to your business with a fresh mind, new ideas, and your mental health still intact!

Be Flexible

If 2020 has taught us anything it is that life is unpredictable. The rug can be pulled from under us at any moment. Do not make the mistake of being so rigid in your business model that you cannot go with the flow. Be open to pivoting and resetting targets as your circumstances are in a constant state of motion.

Learn Something New!

As humans, we crave growth, don’t be afraid to try something new. A new perspective can bring fresh energy back into your businesses. Read books, listen to podcasts, seek out teachers, mentors, or programs, learning can bring us insight, new ideas, and help us think outside-the-box.
